Agricon Bighead Mix
For horses grazing exotic pastures, may be used for the prevention and treatment of bighead.
- Bighead is a condition that horses may develop when grazing improved pastures. It often occurs in Buffel pasture, but may occur with Kikuyu or Setaria. These grasses are oxalic acid rich which "ties up" the calcium causing the deficiency
- High phosphorus in the horse's diet will depress calcium and magnesium absorption. Feeds such as bran and pollard are low in calcium or too high in phosphorus in comparison. Such diets that are not balanced with added calcium can also result in Bighead
